The BrainChild Program for Schools...

Works on the underlying problem to help to improve brain function. It is available for use with whole classes and groups, in schools and other settings. The research and development of the program initiated at Manchester University and further developed with Cumbria Children’s Fund demonstrated significant positive changes in reflex integration, attainment and behaviour. Courses for individuals can be found in Brainchild Developmental Training for Professionals.

The Brainchild Program for Schools is delivered as two modules, providing a presentation and physical activities. We can discuss the best options for delivery with each school according to dates that are available for In-service Training. September and January are busy times, so try to book ahead.

The Introduction to The Brainchild Program© for Schools is designed for whole school delivery and training for all staff is recommended. Delivery to Children's Centres and groups other than schools is tailored to the needs of the client group. An Early Years version of the program is available.

Training together

The most effective way of achieving program delivery in the setting is for the whole staff and volunteers of an organisation to train together. It can be more difficult for individuals to achieve the optimum conditions in isolation. The activities create an atmosphere for bonding and interaction that is an important part of the program. This works to strengthen the group dynamics. Adults find the activities lots of fun.

The courses are not suitable for cascading to others because there is such a large percentage of new information and accuracy of physical activities to learn. The course does not qualify delegates to teach others to deliver. This requires considerably more training.Training for teachers and teaching assistants also enables them to develop a deeper understanding of the needs of their pupils and to have fun in the process... ..

Specialist schools: In addition to a course for teachers, training for teaching assistants, care staff and parents can be provided, as required.

The training was excellent. A clear, structured program. Interesting and easy to implement. Some children have made obvious progress, particularly children who find difficulty in concentrating for sustained periods
